Institute for Rehabilitation West
Orange/East Orange. Rehabilitation
counseling testing- evaluated and helped
plan retraining and alternate vocational
opportunities. Worked primarily with
individuals with the following
disabilities:
spinal cord (paraplegia, quadriplegia),
head trauma, veterans with post-traumatic
stress syndrome, and learning
disabilities. Gave lectures on physical
rehabilitation techniques in Puerto Rico,
Santo Domingo and Peru.
1961-1969 Worked as
Catholic priest for Archdiocese of
Newark for eight years in Jersey City
Established religious
services for Spanish-speaking people in
two parishes. For two years, worked
mostly with minorities- lived with three
other priests in an experimental project
living in an apartment among the poorer
residents of downtown Jersey City.
